Option A for the scheme features the Avro Vulcan B.Mk.2 XM594 of the Scampton Wing. In the mid-1960s, Scampton's Vulcans abandoned their recognizable white anti-flash paint scheme in favor of standard RAF camouflage on their upper surfaces, reflecting the shift in tactical operations from high to low altitude. This change was due to the significant improvements in Soviet SAM missile capability, which made it unsafe for Vulcan crews to conduct their original high altitude Blue Steel delivery missions, forcing them to fly at low altitudes instead. Further information on the paint schemes and a list of required paints is provided below. Option B, on the other hand, showcases the Avro Vulcan B.Mk.2 XM602 of RAF No.12 Squadron, which was the first delta bomber in the world and the most advanced at the time of its creation. The prototype VX770 was initially painted in an all-over white 'Anti-Flash' finish and proudly displayed the Royal Air Force insignia.
